Publication Queue Walkthrough

Background
Publications in ORegAnno are submitted to a queue prior to annotation. This is a quick way to add papers for eventual annotation by busy experts and a mechanism for annotators to discover important papers to begin the annotation process. All queue functionality is available by clicking thie queue button in the user menu:

Publication Queue
  1. Two options are available on the Publication Queue page: 1) Adding a new publication to the queue or 2) Changing a publications's state
    • Adding a new publication to the Queue
      1. PMID: The first field required is a comma-delimited list of Pubmed ID's to add to the Publication Queue. These papers must not already be in the queue.
      2. Entry code: Entry can be either by an "EXPERT", which is consider the best type of entry. Or by a text-mining algorithm.
      3. COMMENT: An optional comment can describe the set of publications being added to the Publication Queue.
    • Changing a publications state
      1. A publication can be in three states, PENDING, OPEN and CLOSED. Any logged-on user can change a paper from PENDING to OPEN and begin the annotation process. Each user is allowed only 4 OPEN publications.
      2. Once a paper is OPEN, that user is the only one allowed to begin the detailed annotation process for that paper.
      3. For each change of state, a comment can be added.
      4. A VALIDATOR, ADMINISTRATOR, or the user who set the state of a publication to CLOSED, can each change a CLOSED publication back to PENDING at any time.
